URBAN

FABRIC

The term ‘urban fabric’ generally means an urban structure or urban area structure and describes the physical characteristics of urban areas, that is, cities, and towns. This includes the streetscapes, buildings, soft and hard landscaping, signage, lighting, roads and other infrastructure. Urban fabric can be thought of as the physical texture of an urban area.
Ends in a month (May 31, 2024)

Fabrics are beautifully woven because they have various warp and weft threads. A city is not only made up of large-scale facilities, but also small stores, merchant houses, temples, and gardens that have been cherished by the common people, and such weft threads are woven into the warp thread of historical time to create beautiful scenery.

With that analogy in mind, how can we incorporate fabric or textiles into architectural/urban design?

for Cities is inviting emerging architects, landscape architects, urban planners, designers, engineers, artists, curators, or anyone who's involved in architectural & urban practices to send in completed projects, or theoretical or conceptual propositions to join the conversation around cities and architecture with fabric and textile.
