SCALE

"Human Scale City" is a term often heard in recent urban development. The term "human scale" refers to the idea of using the size of a human body as a scale to determine how easy it is to carry things, use tools, or live in a house. In other words, a human-scale city refers to an urban design approach that uses the human senses and body as the scale, a concept that has been used in recent years to realize a human lifestyle that is not dominated by automobiles and industry. However, are cities only for people?
Ends 2 months ago (Feb 29, 2024)

In cities, we co-exist not only with one another, but also with various non-human existence - trees, plants, dogs, cats, birds, insects, and even microorganisms, just to name a few. We believe that an "Animal Scale City" approach that includes a wide variety of living creatures, rather than a human-centered approach, is now required.

In this campaign, for Cities is inviting emerging architects, landscape architects, urban planners, designers, engineers, artists, curators, or anyone who's involved in architectural & urban practices to send in completed projects, or theoretical or conceptual propositions that fit the theme of "More-than-Human Scale City".

Selected applicants will have the opportunity to present their work at for Cities Week 2023 exhibition that will take place in Ho-Chi-Min City, Vietnam from 22nd to 28th May 2023 at Uom Art Hub.
